Erika Harding hails from Lubbock, Texas. She was classically trained as a singer and a musician in high school. Growing up in West Texas, going to Stubbs Bar-B-Q on Sundays, and seeing bands like the Maines Brothers was a regular thing. Roots music is in her blood. Erika prides herself as an aficionado of American Roots Music. (Visit her website at http://www.roots66.com). Her grandfather played with many big bands of the 40's including the Navy Band and Lawrence Welk. This interesting cross section of influences blends into a distinctive style with a lot of charisma and personality. Erika was a member of Man & Wife, Madrigali, The Undefineables, Melba Toast & The Ironin' Maidens, and the a cappella swing quintet, Red Betsy, who enjoyed a brief stint as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's regular opening act. She has sung back-up vocals for folk artist Fred Schmitt, who opened for Townes Van Zandt and Timbuk 3. A special experience was as a back-up vocalist for Glen Glenn in his opening performance for Bob Dylan at the Hollywood Palladium. |

Erika has a rich vocal tone with a wide range of textures, a voice suitable for the recording studio. Recording credits include Fred Schmitt, Jill Bailey, a commercial for the city of Ojai in 1990 and a children's album in 1986. She also plays the viola and is learning to play her new guitar. Erika is a fun-loving soul and a performer at heart. It comes across in her musical choices and presentation in the new group the Tatters, with whom she performs regularly. |
